- A Fundraiser is set to take place at Apple Tree-O Orchard, located at 5667 90th St. SE, on September 7th from 12pm to 5pm. It will be featuring an inflatable obstacle course, face painting, Ice Cream Social from 2 to 4, and more! All proceeds will go to the Library. - Delano is set to kick off Minnesota's oldest and largest 4th of July Celebration on Wednesday, July 2nd at 5pm and ending July 5th after the fireworks show. - When 2009 Delano High School graduate Jakob Lawman signed up for a three-month study abroad program, he never expected to see the picking of the 266th pope.“It was absolutely by chance that we were there during the election,” said Lawman, who has been studying in Antwerp, Belgium with eight fellow architecture students from North Dakota State University since Jan. 23.The group traveled to Italy mid-March, a short spring break excursion they had planned months before 85-year-old Pope Benedict XVI announced his resignation due to advanced age.“When we heard the pope had resigned, we thought we might be there during that time, but didn’t think we’d get to see the actual election; it usually takes longer than two days,”
- The second annual Toast to Art will take place Friday, Feb. 22 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Delano Heritage Center, 140 Bridge Avenue East in Delano. Participants will taste beer and wine, while enjoying a silent auction of children’s and professional art work, food, and raffles. Tickets are $10 if purchased by Friday, Feb. 15; and $15 if purchased after Feb. 15 or at the door. Must be 21 to attend. Toast to Art is a fundraising event for the Delano Elementary Parents in Education (PIE). Proceeds will go directly to the school to purchase materials needed to create a leveled library system, and future art and science residency programs.
- At Rieder Meat Market in Delano, not much has changed in 100 years, and that’s a good thing. “We do it the old-fashioned way,” owner Laurence “Bud” Rieder, Jr. said, pointing out his handwritten orders, steaks cut to customer preference, and a wooden desk in the corner that’s been around for at least 70 years.

The Delano Sons of the American Legion will be hosting a Mothers Day omelet breakfast Sunday, May 8 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The first 75 mothers will receive a rose bush in honor of Mothers Day. Omelets are made-to-order along with pork sausage, hash browns, toast, juice, milk, and coffee. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children. Proceeds to benefit the Delano American Legion baseball program.
