- The Delano Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 24th annual Community Expo, which will take place in the Tiger Activity Center at Delano High School, Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature many area businesses displaying products or services in booths.

The "biggest and prettiest" pumpkin contest is set for Saturday, Sept. 29 at Apple Jack Orchards from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Upper Midwest Giant Pumpkin Growers. A weigh-off is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to noon. There is no cost to enter, and cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded. All are welcome to participate. Set up is at 10:30 a.m.

Fall Heritage Festival is coming up Sept. 22, sponsored by the Delano Area Chamber of Commerce and the Delano-Franklin Township Historical Society. The Fall Harvest Festival will take over downtown Delano Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by to enjoy a bowl of chili, entertainment, live theater, numerous children’s activities, hay bale maze, and a pie-eating contest. Also, if you have a great chili recipe, you are encouraged to bring a crock pot of your specialty chili to the 2012 Fall Heritage Festival chili cook off. It’s free to sign up, and the winner will receive $100 in Delano Dollars. After being judged, the chili will be sold for $2 per bowl. All of the proceeds will go to a local non-profit organization.
The Delano Area Chamber of Commerce is also sponsoring a medallion hunt, with a prize package valued at more than $500.

- The Delano Community Market will take place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, in downtown Delano along the Crow River. It will feature local foods, art, music and family fun. The market is a working collaboration between the Delano Food Council and the Delano Lions Club.
- The 23rd annual Delano Area Chamber of Commerce spring expo will be Saturday, March 31 at Delano High School’s Tiger Activity Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Booth space is now available, and one can register by calling the chamber office at (763) 972-6756, or at www.delanochamber.com and downloading a registration form. This is a great opportunity to showcase your business to the community.
- The Delano Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for Delano’s 2012 business of the year award. The chamber ambassadors will review all nominations at the January 2012 meeting. Submit nominations by Sunday, Jan. 15. All nominations will be confidential and nominations should focus on a business, not a person. - The fourth annual Taste of Delano will take place Wednesday, Aug. 3 at Central Park from 5 to 8 p.m. and feature more than a dozen of the Delano area's restaurants providing plenty of food. Advance tickets are available and can be purchased through Aug. 1 at the Delano Area Chamber of Commerce office, Star West Chevrolet-Honda Sports, Crow River Bank, State Bank of Delano, Coborn's, and at the Delano City Hall. Advance tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. Tickets the day of the event will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.
- The Crossings Carnival will take place Saturday, July 23 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Delno Crossings, a retail strip center located in the northwest corner of Highway 12 and County Road 139 in Delano. The event will feature free Inflatafun rides, a giant slide, Tiger Belly Bouncer, free drawings, and live music. True Value Hardware, Fantastic Sam’s, Verizon Wireless, and Kickin’ Nutrition will be participating and offering specials. True Value Hardware Store will be hosting its Green Bag Sale Saturday, July 23 only. Customers are encouraged to pickup a free Greener Options shopping bag, and save 20 percent off everything they can fit inside.
- All interested residents, businesses, and property owners are invited to an open house Tuesday, June 14, from 5 to 6:45 p.m. for a presentation of the draft Delano parks and trails plan. The open house is to solicit comments and suggestions on the plan. Later the same evening, the Delano Planning Commission will be reviewing the plan and holding a public hearing for public comment on the plan. The city asks people to attend if interested.
