- Children ages 3 to 5 are welcome to visit the Delano Public Library to enjoy Holiday Stories Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. This preschool story-time includes stories, songs, rhymes, and fun for everyone. The attendance limit is 25. Pre-registration is required. Delano Public Library hours are: Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, 1 to 8 p.m.; Friday, 1 to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For information about library programs, contact the library at (763) 972-3467.

- An indoor beanbag tournament will take place at the Delano American Legion Saturday, Feb. 11, with registration beginning at noon and the tournament beginning at 2 p.m. The entry fee is $30, which includes lunch. It is open to 64 teams and is double-elimination. Call (763) 972-2969 for more information.
- The second annual Toast to Art will take place Friday, Feb. 22 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Delano Heritage Center, 140 Bridge Avenue East in Delano. Participants will taste beer and wine, while enjoying a silent auction of children’s and professional art work, food, and raffles. Tickets are $10 if purchased by Friday, Feb. 15; and $15 if purchased after Feb. 15 or at the door. Must be 21 to attend. Toast to Art is a fundraising event for the Delano Elementary Parents in Education (PIE). Proceeds will go directly to the school to purchase materials needed to create a leveled library system, and future art and science residency programs.
- Due to the digital conversion of film projectors at the Delano 5 Theatre, there will be limited shows and showtimes Monday, Jan. 30 through Thursday, Feb. 2; and again Monday, Feb. 6 through Thursday, Feb. 9. - Delano Area Council for Art and Culture is seeking volunteers and artists for this year’s Old-Fashioned Christmas in downtown Delano. Organizers are seeking volunteers to help with the event, artists for the Art Walk, businesses to host the artists, carolers, and actors for the Christmas Story Windows. The Delano Jaycees and the Delano Royalty Organization are partnering for the "insane asylum" haunted house during the Halloween season. Located at the old True Value Hardware store on Bridge Avenue in downtown Delano, admission will be $7 per person or $5 with a food-shelf item. The haunted house insane asylum will be open Thursday, Oct. 18 from 6-9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19 from 6-10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20 from 6-10 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26 from 6-10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27 from 6-10 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 28 from 4-9 p.m. (4-6 p.m. is kid-friendly).

- The Delano Public Library will host its 26th annual art show, celebrating creative talent in the Delano community from Tuesday, Oct. 4 through Saturday, Oct. 29 during library open hours. A “Meet The Artist Open House” will take place Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m., including refreshments and presentations by local artists using a variety of media. - The fourth annual Taste of Delano will take place Wednesday, Aug. 3 at Central Park from 5 to 8 p.m. and feature more than a dozen of the Delano area's restaurants providing plenty of food. Advance tickets are available and can be purchased through Aug. 1 at the Delano Area Chamber of Commerce office, Star West Chevrolet-Honda Sports, Crow River Bank, State Bank of Delano, Coborn's, and at the Delano City Hall. Advance tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. Tickets the day of the event will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.

- The Delano Film Society will be hosting a filmmaker panel Tuesday, July 19 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Three Crows Café and Coffeehouse. There will be three filmmakers who will answer questions about the filmmaking process and show examples of their work. Gwen Briesemeister, Delano Public School’s teacher of the year, will be one of the participants. All are welcome to attend.
- Great River Regional Library along with Pizza Ranch will will sponsor pizza in the park Thursday, July 14 with an evening of entertainment in the Delano Lions Park near the gazebo from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Relax with your family and enjoy some special entertainment. Slices of pizza will be available for a donation, along with free beverage and an icy treat. All proceeds from this event will go to the Delano Friends of the Library, servers for the evening. Everyone can participate.
- A 16-inch diameter rocket will be launched in Delano Monday, July 4 as part of Delano’s Fourth of July celebration. “We are one of the few cities in the entire state that meet the location requirements to do this,” said Alex Roeser, the Fourth of July celebration committee chairman. “It’s going to be an amazing show.”
- The Delano Area Chamber of Commerce/Fourth of July Celebration Committee is once again coordinating the advance sales of discount carnival ride tickets for Delano’s Fourth of July Celebration. The tickets are available now through Thursday, June 30 at the State Bank of Delano, Crow River Bank, Delano True Value, Coborn’s, Flippin Bill’s, Loopy’s Dollar Store, and Delano Floral and Gifts. - The third-annual River Street Jam with Butch Automatic will take place Saturday, June 4 from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on River Street in front of Dave’s Town Club, between Bridge and Railroad avenues. Advance tickets to the River Street Jam cost $10 and are available at the St. Peter’s School office, Dave’s Town Club, Delano American Legion, Crow River State Bank, and State Bank of Delano. Tickets will cost $15 at the door. This is a fundraiser for St. Peter’s Catholic School.

Delano’s Old-Fashioned Christmas event Saturday, Dec 1, will showcase local artists and also be a fun-filled holiday event for families. Artists will exhibit and sell their works inside downtown businesses, and all other activities will take place in downtown Delano from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Delano Area Council for Arts and Culture welcomes the public to participate, and enjoy the artists’ creations.
